Construction of a new 450 pupil Primary School with a Flying Start facility on the existing Hirwaun Primary School site including a sports pitch, MUGAs, road works and final landscaping. BREAAM Excellent
The school is now benefitting from a £10.2m investment which has significantly improved education facilities. The project included a new 21st Century School building as well as two Multi-Use Games Areas, an early years Flying Start facility, staff car parking, a grass sports pitch and external spaces.
Contractor Morgan Sindall made excellent progress after the construction phase started in September 2019, despite challenges of severe weather, BREXIT and the Coronavirus pandemic.
The new school building was constructed in readiness for staff and pupils to move in after the 2020 autumn half term week.
The contractor then turned its focus to completing the wider development, which was fully-delivered during April 2021. This included the demolition of the existing school buildings, and completion of external elements of the school grounds.
